hey now now

Three things:

1) Work is killing me dead. Dead. But I just got paid so that is balm to sooth the blister that is day 9 without a break.

2) I'm heading up to (or would that be down to? I always get my norths and souths confused) Vic for the weekend. Well, really just Saturday night and then part of Sunday, but hey, who really gives a damn about semantics?

3) Ye olde finished product: the second CD cover is done! Yay! I like the coloring on this one better, but I'm quite happy with the outcome of both covers, actually, w00t w00t.

Off to sleep and then work! Huzzah?

Um, hi. Well. It's been ... a while since I surfaced, hasn't it? I have no real excuse but that's I'm lazy and have the attention span of a gnat. Which doesn't really make anything clear, but there you go.

Ah! But I do have a semi-real reason for posting; first off: MUSIC )

The other thing I wanted to do was post my CD cover for one of my august trade mixes (for [livejournal.com profile] indiemixtrade). This time instead of a sort of pop-art/graphic art/goth punk-ish feel, I was totally basing my design off of old, french art nouveau posters. I liked the way it turned out ... Except for the goddamned green. In retrospect I really should have used red for the background, but que sera sera right? Right. So I am going to stop obsessing.

Inner!Esme: Riiiiight. Sure you are.

Esme: Shut up. I will. Am, am!

Inner!Esme: Of course you are.

Esme: Sarcasm much. Leave me alone.

Inner!Esme: Want a cookie?

Esme: ... Fine. -_-;

I spent a couple hours today scrubbing a cinderblock wall in preparation for a mural. Scrubbing cinderblock is not nearly as fun as it sounds. Part 2 starts tomorrow (or, rather, today as it's the early AM now) with painting a primer coat across the acursed thing.

In other news, I've been putting off writing in favor of agonizing over the track listing for the mix tape I'm sending for the [livejournal.com profile] indiemixtrade June trade-off (which I have finished and have put both CDs in the mail. Thank you God). BUT I did completely finish both CD covers. I think I like this one better than the bride one, but I'm happy with how they both turned out over all so... Um. Yeah. Not much to say about that. So. Here:

Teh Slip Cover of Doom version: DJ Groom

So, I'm participating in the June trade at [livejournal.com profile] indiemixtrade, which is a wonderful community co-moded by [livejournal.com profile] panicbreakfast. This month's theme is 'wedding'--ie, something old (influential bands), something new (new bands), something borrowed (song covers) and something blue (either has blue in the title or is a bluesy song).

Because I can't pick a themed song list for the life of me, I'm including pretty slipcovers to compensate (hopefully). I finished one earlier this evening, and I scanned it in so I have a copy of it and thought I'd share the fruits of my labour not, because, um, I like drawing and this took me all of an hour? maybe two? to finish up--while distracted by The Bone Collector on CTV.

Actually, I quite like how slipcover 1 turned out. Because I did it in markers, there's a bit of a rough quality to it, but I think it sort of fits the image. It's completely different than what I'd originally planned, but, hey, whatever works, right?

And it's pink.

The slipcover the 2nd is suppose to be the groom as a DJ, buuuut we'll see.
